One
of the important determinants for rural empowerment is making
various empowerment initiatives accessible to the rural people by
several development organizations. Provision of learning
environment with required infrastructural facilities at the
doorsteps of rural people would motivate rural women, unemployed
youth, and others while creating congenial environment for
learning and improving their inherent skills for income
generation. Realizing this gap in capacity building process of
rural people, the Swamy Ramananda Tirtha Rural Institute has
ventured into creation of Rural Extension Centres at various rural
centres.
-
On
request from Mandal Parishad Development Officer or Public
Representatives or NGOs, a Rural Extension Centre is set up
subject to necessary support in terms of infrastructure and
learning facilities.
-
The
Instructors, Course Material, Tools and Equipment would be
supplied by the Institute to the identified Extension Centres.
-
The
training procedure, methodology and duration would be as that
of Campus training programmes.
-
Selection
of trade would be based on local sustenance and feasibility
conditions. Thus, the training programmes are of local market
driven.
-
The
basic training areas of extension include Garment related
technologies, Surface ornamentation trades, Quilts and other
Utility Items, Rural Engineering, and Electrical and
Electronics, etc.
-
So
far, the Institute has set up 75 Rural Extension Centres
across Nalgonda, Medak, Mahaboobnagar, Ranga Reddy, Ananthapur,
Karimnagar, Nizamabad, West Godavari, Krishna
and Warangal districts.
-
Similarly
under Rural Extension, the Institute has trained 20,000 rural
people so far.
-
It
is highly heartening to note that majority of the trainees
have been successful either as employed or self-employed
fulfilling the demands of local markets and after stretching
their marketing net-work at international level.
